Comment on Opposition Party

  1. Realized when I saw you mentioned on Aderyn's latest story that I abso-fucking-lutely devoured this today and utterly failed to comment.

    Loved the snark.

    Loved Lestrade's lack of fear.

Loved the hungry abandonment of order, logic, selves.

    Loved the accidental teamwork.

Loved Sherlock's horror and thought John's myriad reactions were perfectly John.

Extremely fun and well done, you. Thanks so much.

OH - Just glanced up and saw "smirked" up there. THANK YOU for being one of a group of barely more than none who use the word correctly. Its connotations are usually completely disregarded. (Language snob as a reader, though I often let it down when writing.)

    1. Holmes wreathed in smoke. By me.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed all those things, because I totally enjoyed writing them.

How do people usually use "smirked"? I can't say I've noticed. (Is this going to be one of those things that I regret asking because once I'm told I'm going to see it everywhere and it's gonna bug me? XD)

      1. "Smirked" as satisfied smile, or small smile, without any hint of cockiness.

Hate HATE it after some mutually heartfelt shy confession and then one of them smirks. NO HE FUCKING DIDN'T. Promotes hostility in my blood.

        Your writing promotes other things.

Seriously? I'm not sure I've ever seen that. Or if I had, I'd have spun it in my head that the person was being…I dunno, self-deprecatingly insincere or something. Who knows. My brain would have done somersaults to make it work.

I am pleased that I'm writing does not promote hostility. Yes I am indeed. Oh yes.

          1. I've turned my brain over and over in some stories trying to make the word work - rereading multiple paragraphs beford just being mad.

Clearly, I need to let this go. And I hope I didn't pass my word jinx on to you.

AND the main point of the comment must be revived: your writing is fab-o and I thank you for it!

I hope it wasn't passed on, either! (But it probably was.)

              Anyway, thank you! :)
