"A life for a life," He mumbled, voice barely audible. "My debt is repaid. Move out!" He called to the soldiers, not giving her another glance.
Mulan, having been "spared" death by Shang, remained on the cold mountain, wearing nothing but bandages around her torso, thin pants that could barely protect her legs, and the blanket she was holding when Chin-Fu dragged her from the tent. Her wound reopened, bleeding profusely—Mulan didn't expect to survive much longer. Instead of death, she was found by the Hun army, the enemy. At first, she believes the blood loss caused confusion, hallucinations, a delirious mindset. That was until she woke up in their camp, fresh bandages and their leader staring from across the campfire. He gave her a choice, leave and spend the rest of her life in fear of him for killing his army, or stay, help him destroy the army that betrayed her, abandoned her and be promised a quick, painless death after. Mulan doesn't know why she chose to stay. Maybe she was still weak from her injury, maybe it's because she knew she could never outrun him, perhaps it was revenge, survival. Or it was because the so-called enemy treated her with more respect than her own country, the very men she saved the lives of.Series

A Disney crossover that acts as an alternate sequel to the 1998 Mulan movie and the 1967 Jungle Book movie.
I have my friend Pinkwarrior30 to thank for inspiring this fic, thanks to fanart she made featuring Mulan and Mowgli, as well as some of her own fics she’s written.
Without her, this wouldn’t have ever been possible, so I see this as a collab, with this being just as much her story as well as mine. :)

"Where is she? Answer me now!" The Hun man shook the Chinese in his grip.
"Died!" The statement was almost a cry as Hua Zhou closed his eyes and gave the answer. He was sure that this was the last act of his life. However, the hand that held him weakened.
"No, that can't be." When he looked up at the Hun, he shook his head.
"I sent her home, but she died!" Zhou repeated. The Hun man closed his eyes and a tear seemed to roll down his face. His hands were clenched into fists and he didn't speak for a long moment. Finally, he slowly turned his back on Zhou.
"I'll let you live today because of your honesty. Next time, I won't be so kind to your kind." He announced before leaving the humiliated Hua Zhou alone.

The men that she trained with and saved the lives of threw her away for being something she could not control. They called it mercy, a debt repaid. As if leaving her half dead on a frozen mountain top was any better than cutting her head off...

Predator recognizes predator. Shan Yu recognizes Mulan's intelligence and the fire that rages in her soul. He sees what she is capable of. And he wants it for himself.
Mulan is taken against her will to live with Shan Yu's people. And yet she finds the Mongolian people are not the horrific monsters the stories made them out to be. The more time she spends with them, the less "home" feels like home. China wants her obedience. The Mongolians want her usefulness. Only Shan Yu asks what she wants.
What she wants challenges everything China drilled into her. It's changing her. And Shan Yu is noticing every transformation.

Mulan does what I would have done if I was left in the snow for committing the crime of being a woman. She kicks ass, gets her romance and vibes with her only good friends.

Elegant, classy, but not too bold or flashy.
