Summary
With August comes the team's yearly long furlough during the summer, a month off to rest, recharge, and prepare for the gruelling Halloween and Smissmas combat seasons ahead. The team all have various plans, but the most interesting ones belong to Sniper and Demoman, who have a cross-country road trip planned with the overall goal being to meet some of the mysterious inhabitants of West Virginia. However the trip becomes more than simple sightseeing and sex tourism when Medic gives them a mission: get him feathers from the wings of the Mothman.

Summary
Scout lures Soldier away from cleaning his guns for some sex, and finds himself a little disarmed by how romantic it ended up being. They end up talking about the past and the future, and their feelings on fatherhood. Scout's got a very stupid but very passionate dream, and Soldier can't help but get on board.
(My lighthearted take on the infamous "endless supply" line, since while I read it as nefarious, my first thought wasn't quite as... vile as a lot of people's were. And still my brain likes to spin out outlandish scenarios to finish that sentence instead. This is the most persistent one, that always makes me laugh.)

Merasmus' penchant for taking on terrible roommates isn't limited to just the RED Soldier, it turns out, and BLU Soldier finds himself at odds with the wizard shortly after moving in with him, which leads to so dramatic a falling out that the team ends up getting cursed the night before their big Halloween party! Nothing seems to be different though, at least until they wake up the next morning...

Engineer's going under for his spine replacement surgery, and he's more than a little anxious about it thanks to all of his medical trauma from childhood, and the pressure of finding out if he'd succeeded at all of the work he'd been doing. Pyro's almost as much of a wreck in the waiting room, so Medic comes up with a helpful solution to both problems so he can get to work already.

Summary
In a world populated by magic and monsters, certain men develop certain ecclectic tastes. Sniper is very much one of them, the amiable Australian collecting experiences most illicit. He tracks down creatures sapient yet monstrous, and endeavors to bed them.
This series' chronology is vague, but is presented here in order.
The majority of this series was written before The Naked and the Dead came out, and thus before Spy was revealed as Scout's father. In the continuity of this series, that is only true of RED Scout and RED Spy. BLU Scout and BLU Spy are entirely unrelated in this series, however, for reasons that become pretty clear in Playing With Fire.
