Summary
Thomas has been having a time of it ever since he was bitten by an over-enthusiastic dog in the park one night. His roommate and his roommate's boyfriend keep insisting that he was bitten by a werewolf, but that has to be a prank, right? (Spoilers: it is not.)

Summary
To the greater masses of the galaxy, humans were seen freakish orc-like monsters in terms of intelligence and strength. They possessed peripheral vision, towered over most alien species and could consume deathly poisons, such as caffeine and chocolate. They were aggressive, baring their teeth and making direct eye contact when first approached. They could not speak Basic, chattering in nonsense screeches and shouts.
This perception was hardly helped by the fact that galaxy's first introduction to humans were ones that were abducted and trafficked by an alien empire that lived entirely on their space-faring vessels, drifting from one end of the galaxy to the other. Abused, traumatized humans who were desperate to escape and survive by any means possible. Or yearning to be understood, treated as a sapient being worthy of respect and recognition.
Janus was once the latter kind. Until he gave up any and all pretense to be understood and treated as anything but a wild creature, tamed through jolts of electricity and food deprivation.

Summary
It is all Patton's fault, truly. He wouldn't be in this predicament if Patton hadn't shuffled into the shared quarters of the mind-scape late one night, a sopping wet-eyed sniffling mess. Janus should've ignored him. All he'd wanted was to steal a jar of Logan's Crofters, leaving Logan to play detective the next morning and incorrectly deduce the culprit as Roman.
Yet it had been three days since Patton emerged from his room and it was his responsibility to care for these such things. It has been his responsibility ever since he squeezed a young Patton's hand in comfort and confidently declared, "No need to worry about it, Patty. I'll take care of all the bad things to ensure Thomas doesn't have to think about them. That can be my job."

Summary
Needle. Shock. Scalpel. Blood. Pain, pain, pain. Cell. Sleep. Repeat.
Blue gloved hands handled him. With steely eyes and frowns permanently stitched to their faces. They poked and prodded, reprimanding him if he got out of line. They referred him as “It” or “Experiment 1217″. They didn’t think of him as human.
How could they? Not after that fateful night, the one where he convulsed on the ground. It hurt, the pain tearing at every fiber of his being. He thought he was dying. He wished he’d died. Instead he woke to find himself changed. Transformed into a different being entirely. One with long spindly appendages and far too many eyes.

Summary
Virgil's encounter with three real life werewolves left him feeling half-convinced it had to be the concoction of some fever dream. But as a former foster kid who aged out of the system with little to nothing but the clothes on his back, he has bigger things to worry about than werewolves. Like, how he was going to survive on a minimum wage for starters.
When his friend Remy presents him with a new job opportunity, his first gut instinct was to refuse it. And you know what they say about gut instincts...

Summary
Children tended to go missing from the shorelines. Not by sharks or drowning, mind you. But by the Merfolk who prowled the waters.
So you can imagine the aneurysm Patton's parents would have if they knew their thirteen-year-old son had caught an early case of teenage rebellion. For Patton, who has always felt an alluring unbreakable pull to the ocean, had taken to visiting the beach nearly every sunrise since the start of the summer. One particular trip might result in something far more than he ever truly expected, in which he discovers blood does not always run thicker than water.

Summary
Logan was a god, once. Technically he was still a god, but that depended on how one defined a god. If the definition was “a powerful supernatural entity worshipped for their domination over nature and humanity” then such a definition no longer applied to him.
There was indeed a time that Logan exemplified it. He was the Knowledge-Bringer, The All-Knowing One. He was the god that mortals sought out for wisdom and knowledge. Prayers and offerings flowed as steadily as the twin rivers of Romulus.
Yet the twin rivers of Romulus had long since dried up and so had Logan’s powers. Or at least they had, until one night a sleep-deprived university student called upon his aid out of sheer desperation.

Summary
Threatened by humanity’s ambitions, the gods sought out to wipe them from existence with the aid of their most fearsome creation: dragons. Great, terrible beasts capable of breathing fire with pierceless scales and strength a thousand men strong. In the chaos and havoc that followed, humanity sought refuge within the Earth below away from the Sky where Dragons reign.
Generations of humans have lived underground, only ever venturing upwards to heed the call of a pilgrimage. For some, it was a repentance of guilt, a rite of cleansing. For others, it was a noble sacrifice, the willingness to risk one’s life for the common good.
For Roman, it was both.

Summary
“Shh,” Janus murmured as he approached the now-sobbing child, “You’ve been so brave and I’m proud of you. But that’s enough now. It was cruel of them to make you fight me–you never could have won. It’s not your fault.”
His gentle words and calm composure betrayed none of the roiling anger beneath it all. Anger not at the child, but at the so-called gods who continually sent teenagers and now a child (one of their own, even) to fight their own battles.

Summary
Virgil has two secrets. The first secret is that he misses them. He misses Patton’s warm hugs and his soft, gooey cookies. He misses Logan and his rants about astronomy. He even misses Roman--loud, noisy prince who gets on his nerves with his bravado and flights of fancy. He should've known it wasn't ever meant to be. Now just thinking about them makes him feel like a worm on a hook–it’s like a sharp pain stabbing into his intestines that he can’t squirm away from.
The second secret? Well, it's something he's hidden from the others for a long, long time. And he'd rather put up the "Big Bad Anxiety" persona than for the others to know the truth. He knows they'll never forgive him for it and he can live with that. He has to.

Logan is a smart person. Or at least, that is the general opinion held by others; Logan is a person that is smart. A word that means: intelligent, clever, sharp, shrewd. Logan, however, is starting to think otherwise.

Summary
When Remy ventured into a tavern for a good drink and merriment during Winter's End celebration, he could hardly expect to find an intriguing figure lingering conspicuously on the outskirts.
Or:
Remy has heard rumors, a tale of a spare button, the fifth horseshoe, a second-born prince seconds away from being the first born.Citizens of the kingdom know there are two princes. They have seen very little of their second-born prince. The tale that is told is that he is sickly, too weak to wander outside his bedroom for long intervals. What he sees tonight contradicts that tale.

Summary
“Oh, Virgil is going to hate him. He’s going to erupt in a rant about Logan being too impulsive as if Logan doesn’t think out every action in a methodical manner.” Or in other words, Logan decides that "finders keepers" is applicable to the abandoned human child he has come across.

Summary
"Not to be dramatic, but I'm back from the dead. Surprise!" Remus shoots a pair of finger guns, droplets of blood spraying out from his finger tips, "Hope y'all missed me."
The cloaked figure, the target of his finger guns, does not move. Their facemask, elegantly carved to mimic a raven, stares Remus down apathetically.
Remus laughs, clasping his hands behind his neck as he leans against a building that makes up the alleyway of their standoff, "C'mon, old man. I clawed myself out of the grave and this is how you treat your 'beloved son, departed from the earth too soon?'"

Summary
"He wanted to cry hysterically. He wanted to howl. He was going to die, and all the mugger would receive for his efforts was a $5 dollar bill and a debit card to an empty bank account."
Virgil’s just one of many kids who aged out of the foster care system. He was kicked out of the foster house with little to nothing to his name yet expected to be a functioning member of society. He makes enough just to get by working at a fast food restaurant with the manager from hell.
In a rush to get home after a bad day at work, he takes a short-cut through an alleyway and his day goes from bad to worse when he's confronted by a mugger.
Fortunately, he is rescued by a werewolf who happened to be passing by. Unfortunately said werewolf decides he needs protecting and wants Virgil to be a part of their pack.

Summary
The fae are fair folk, not kind folk. They should never be confused with the latter, because a fae's kindness is not like a human's kindness.
Roman knew this, of course. He heard the tales from his brother and others. But then, the tales that no one liked telling were how humans liked to trick and harm and hunt their own brethren in the name of self-proclaimed kindness.
This is how on the eve of a midsummer, Roman ran through the woods. He ran into twisted thickets and past barbed thistles. He ran as he heard wolf howls and vulture screeches. If the fae would not have him, the woods would.
Either one would be better than the fate that awaited him otherwise.

It has been a long, long while since Remy has felt anything. He has drifted through existence, brandishing his fangs and putting up pompous displays of his wealth and domination. Until one day, a thin silver blade presses against his throat.
"I will kill you."

Summary
Roman was an accomplished Hollywood actor. Millions adored him for his charm and winning smile.
On the flipside, Remus was a certified medical examiner. Millions hadn’t a clue of who he was and those few people that did tolerated him. He dissected dead bodies for a living. Hell, he’d do it for pure amusement if someone offered. Becoming a medical examiner had been just the safe, legal route.
So it might shock people on who was the normal human being and who was the one that could transform into a quote-unquote "horrifying bloodthirsty monster."

Summary
Sometimes, Patton forgets that he's more than just Thomas’ Heart and Feelings–he’s also Morality. It’s his job to know how to guide Thomas on the right path to take in life. Yet, with each new dilemma Thomas faces, Patton finds himself more and more adrift on what is the “right” thing. It hasn't helped that every year Thomas grows older, it also grows harder to figure out what constitutes right from wrong. Even the simpler things, like putting others' needs before one's own needs.
Obviously Thomas should be putting others before himself, but there lies several complications in that. Is doing good deeds for others for the sake of feeling good a bad thing? Or what if Thomas has to put one person first over another? Is it possible for Thomas to be selfless or is every action inherently selfish to some degree?
He doesn't know. The only one who might know is a certain charlatan snake who has a lot to say regarding all that and more.
