Bilbo Baggins, the Thain’s grandson and Master of Bag End, represents the hobbits of The Shire while Thorin II Oakenshield, Heir Prince Under the Mountain, represents the dwarves of Erebor. Both must abide by this ancient agreement with the pressure of their families and for the betterment of their people.
Bilbo and Thorin will enter the courting of both cultures— Thorin will travel to the Shire for nine months, and then Bilbo to Erebor for nine months. All hope everything goes well...

At least, he'd known before he'd woken up on that ravaged beach, blinking in the too-bright sun and you'd come stumbling down the dirt-worn path, covered in blood of questionable origin.
You play the part of the amnesiac hero with charm. None of your other companions seemed to detect there was something deeply, deeply monstrous within you. But he smells the blood your short fingernails draw from digging into your palms when you choke out pleasantries and diplomacy. He recognizes the glint of bloodlust in your eyes.
He watches you and he can just tell.
You know hunger, too.

“You’re not afraid I’ll try it again? Or try to hurt you? You don’t know anything about me. Maybe I’d come back with a group, take it all,” you rambled. It wasn’t helping your case, but your mind ached to understand.
“You don’t have anyone to come back with,” he stated, matter of fact.
Your stomach turned sour. How had this fancy-living little shit just torn apart your entire night? How did he know these things? The man must have noticed whatever wince had been drawn from you by the comment, because next he soothed it by saying,
“The lonely recognize the lonely, I suppose. And you won’t hurt me.”
