Summary
“DuBois. Annie. You can’t send them.”
Eva blinked.
“Then what do you propose I do instead?”
His chest stopped moving for a few seconds, as did his hands. He was still, all of a sudden. Motionless, his eyes still staring at her but the muscles around them contracting like he was fighting a deep instinct to squeeze them shut.
He began to breathe again, shallowly. Then, he opened his mouth.
“Send me.”
___
Ryland Grace has thought it all through. He is the only person truly qualified for the mission. He knows Stratt will agree to send him; he's expendable to her.
So naturally, he makes sure they become friends before he leaves.

Summary
“Oh, it’s a way for humans to tell each other they’re taken. To remember,” I say, popping a bunch more gummy bears into my mouth. Rocky makes a disgusted sound and I smile as I chew. “It’s just a nice way of showing they have someone they committed to.”
Rocky freezes. I don’t notice for a good few seconds, not until I get the pressing sensation that he’s staring at me, his lack of eyes irrelevant.
I turn to face him. He’s jittering, something like shaking from excitement or anger, I’m not sure.
“Rocky?” I ask.
“Grace have ring,” he points, and oh no. “Grace have mate? Why Grace no say!?”
I hold up my hands before he can get too excited, though I can already hear a familiar sound, a repeating joyful and confused song start to escape from him.
“No, no, no!” he freezes again. Deflates, a little. I sigh and run a hand down my face. “It’s… complicated.”

Summary
Age-regression being the secret third thing relationship between Eva Stratt and Ryland Grace. With loads of comfort and now also loads of angst and plot because the author is incapable of writing Slice Of Life. Also featuring science rambles by a biotechnology student.

Summary
He trusted her. He wanted to help her.
She tried to make herself believe, again, that this was ill advised. That it would sabotage the project.
She was steadier, had better concentration. She could afford to spend a few hours only thinking of a single other human being who needed help with meeting his needs, and who then would look at her with that stare, that utterly and honestly impressed gaze. She could hardly bare it, most times. It was too much trust, and it scared her still. She wasn’t scared of the world trusting her, because she didn’t doubt that she was competent and driven enough to see the Hail Mary through. But this man, a single person, not a number, not a vague recollection, giving her that same magnitude of trust, was unsettling.
She had gotten attached, it was undeniable. It was helping. Perhaps, it would be the thing that carried the project to its end.
_____
Eva Stratt can't afford to be friends, especially not with a man whom she sometimes only tolerates for his scientific knowledge. She can't.

Summary
Skizz knew him so well. Too well, maybe. Well enough to pinpoint almost exactly what was going on in Impulse's head when Impulse gave him practically nothing to work with. It was almost scary.
It also meant more to him than Skizz would ever know.
He scooted so that they were sitting side by side. Skizz didn't look at him, eyes instead focused out the window on the peaceful landscape of the server, lit only by the moon and the occasional torch. Impulse let his gaze follow.
All their lives had led them here, he thought. Every band performance, every class, every job, every call from across servers and every call from just a couple hundred blocks away. It had all led them to here: Imp and Skizz, side by side on Hermitcraft, exactly as it was supposed to be.
Impulse didn't need to say it aloud— how much Skizz meant to him. How much his being here meant to him. He didn't need to say it because he knew that Skizz knew, in the same way that Impulse knew that he meant a lot to Skizz. In the same way that he knew the sun would rise the next morning.
or, the aftermath of my favorite cringe-fail team at MCC 4KO.
