Summary
A young monster overheard the circus' increasing issues with humans and their smartphones. She decides to help them out with her specific power, not expecting to be permanently invited into the Freak Circus of Horrors as part of the troupe. She tries her best to navigate this dysfunctional family and, over time, perhaps her efforts were not in vain.
This story's focus is on friendship, family, hope, pain, and healing from suffering and trauma.
A/N: The Jester/OC, Pierrot/OC, and Harlequin/OC tags are added bc those three have communicated wanting romantic and/or sexual intimacy with her, but she does not have any romantic or sexual feelings towards anyone atp. She may reciprocate in later chapters bc she is demirose (demiromantic and demisexual), but it's not a guaranteed.

Underneath the table, you cross your legs and lean against the back of the chair, shrugging with crossed arms. "It didn't seem like you were in a rush." Your gaze hardens. "Now, I need to ask you something."
Harlequin narrows his eyes at you as he takes a long sip of his iced coffee, forked green tongue flicking at you as he sets down the glass on the table with a clink!
His attention is all on you now, emerald irises expanding so you can actually see his black slit pupils even at this distance.
"And whatever could that be, my dear?"

"What were your ancestors? Did you evolve from a divergent line of some species of jellyfish? Cuz' your tentacles are smooth and don't have any suckers on them like octopuses or squid," you state, matter-of-fact, eyes now at his clothed midsection where you knew they hugged his body. Your gaze drifts to the stage, recollecting the story Jester told last night and you furrow your brows. "And this is really annoying me; is it poison or venom? 'Cuz those two are not the same thing. Venom needs to be actively delivered into the victim's body while poison is a passively-delivered toxin."
The three circus performers froze the second you asked your first question, staring at you in tense silence.
No verbal answer came, but all of their body language practically radiated discomfort.

"I know when a touch is platonic and when it's sexual in nature." You frown, your eyes flicking downwards to his hand still outstretched. "And I also know that you were being careful when you touched my hand. But that doesn't change the intention behind it."
"You don't know anything," he retorts back, like spitting acid. Or more accurately, poison.
"Yes, I do." Your voice remains calm, steady, unlike the erratic pulses and thumps in his ear. "Give me a 'small touch'"—you make air quotes—"then. Clearly, you think that a small touch means platonic."
He sneers. "Alright then, dearest."
