Reon froze. “T-Tendou?”
“Yes.”
Tendou was notoriously hard to read, but Reon kind of figured that he wasn’t the type to be anything less than painfully overt with romantic affections.
“I... I don’t think you have anything to worry about. I think if Tendou was attracted to you, he would let you know,” Reon said. “I'd guess he just considers you his best friend.” He hoped his answer would satisfy whatever frenzy the guy had worked himself into so Reon could finally take advantage of his last precious hours of sleep.
But instead, Ushijima visibly deflated in front of him. “Yes. That’s what I thought too,” he said miserably.
Oh, Reon realized. Oh no...

Of course this could be easily solved by proceeding with the original marriage alliance, but Jiang Wanyin would not put his sister in that position, and Meng Yao knew that with the Jiang Sect’s downfall, Jin Guangshan no longer wanted his heir tied to them. His sister laughs, and he glares, and then she clears her throat and stops laughing, but still has a small, indulgent smile. "Of course, A-Cheng," she says. "And what's this little boy's name?"
"Wei Ying," he says, and his sister's smile freezes. "His name is Wei Ying, and his parents are Zangse Sanren and Wei Changze, and something bad has happened to them. Wei Ying is alone in Yiling and he needs help," he insists.
Jiang Cheng starts again from the beginning.

Dazai imagines himself forcing the limousine door open and throwing himself out into oncoming traffic.
It might not kill him, but at least he’d miss the celebration. There would be punishment later, one that warranted a second hospital visit and left him hopped up on whatever cocktail of drugs would make him most obedient. He didn’t want that, but he thought of dragging himself into a ballroom full of people celebrating the murder of his only friend, plastering a smile across his face and flirting with whatever waitress would have him…
He’s thankful he hadn’t eaten anything since the curry with Odasaku, because otherwise he’d have thrown it up.
AKA: Mori throws a celebration to celebrate getting the Special Ability Permit. Dazai and Chuuya aren’t thrilled.

“Nothing gets past Chuuya, hm~? It’s because you’ve known me for so long.” Dazai does his best not to let any honest reactions get in the way of his words, but it‘s requiring a lot not to contort his face with pain. He doesn’t need to be told; he knows that he’s failed because suicide is supposed to be painless, and this situation is anything but.

Or: Dazai has a habit of playing his mental health off as a joke, and he prefers to keep it that way. When Chuuya almost doesn't make it in time to save him from his latest suicide scheme, they both know that something has to change. or: Two years after the events of the Guānyīn temple, a monumental error on a night hunt renders Jiang Cheng back to being a 8 year old child, which has more consequences than anyone could have expected.

Dazai and Chuuya never quite dated at 15 but Chuuya was hopelessly in love with him. Then he left without saying a thing. Four years later they’re dragged back together. Now, they're forced to try and figure each other out again. And maybe, just maybe, they can learn to love again.
