    “Anna—” He’d started.
    “No, I know,” she’d said, looking at him with her kind, brown eyes. She then offered him a smile -- she always smiled, even in the worst of times, that was one of the things he loved about her -- cradling their cooing child. “But it’s nice to think about.”
