His resolve lasts exactly a minute before the Raiders are out on the ice for warm-up. He can’t help the way his eyes zero in on 81. Can’t help the way he tracks Rozanov across the ice.
Shane watches as Rozanov pauses and then skates around as if looking for something in the crowd. The Russian skates past Shane’s section and backtracks, eyes immediately finding Shane’s. He shoots Shane a sloppy salute and a cocky smile before skating away.
Fuck.

In which Shane is a nerdy college hockey player (with a special interest in loons) and Ilya is still a Boston Raider. One would think this would make their years-long situationship easier. It does not.
Or, 5 times Shane watches Ilya’s games, 1 time Ilya watches Shane. The Hollanov situationship re-heated until feelings get involved. Oh no!

Summary
Playing through a brutal fever against Boston was Shane’s first mistake. Not calling his parents after leaving mid-game was his second. So when they rush to his apartment out of sheer panic, they expect to find their sick son. Instead, they find Ilya Rozanov in Shane’s living room. By the next morning, as the fever finally clears, Shane is left wishing that everything he did the night before had just been a crazy fever dream.
Or Yuna and David have to use their emergency keys to check on Shane, only to find their son's arch-rival playing nurse.

The cottage was supposed to be their sanctuary, where they could do whatever they wanted within the confines of the vastly windowed home, but of course, they both should've known it wouldn't last. Not when Shane's parents are a few minutes away and a certain overbearing mother has a tendency to overly worry about her son.
