“Well,” Rozanov drawls, making himself comfortable on one of the loveseats Shane somehow has. He cracks open the single can of Coke. “At least you will not need to hide my body, yes?"
“You’re on thin ice, Rozanov,” Hayden says gruffly.
Rozanov ignores him, turning to JJ. “My favourite player is Shane Hollander after all.” He winks, taking a swig of his can.
They can get along, JJ thinks.

They’ve got pretty good seats, Shane notes as they take their seats.
All the better to see Rozanov slammed against the boards, he tells himself.
His resolve lasts exactly a minute before the Raiders are out on the ice for warm-up. He can’t help the way his eyes zero in on 81. Can’t help the way he tracks Rozanov across the ice.
Shane watches as Rozanov pauses and then skates around as if looking for something in the crowd. The Russian skates past Shane’s section and backtracks, eyes immediately finding Shane’s. He shoots Shane a sloppy salute and a cocky smile before skating away.
Fuck.

In which Shane is a nerdy college hockey player (with a special interest in loons) and Ilya is still a Boston Raider. One would think this would make their years-long situationship easier. It does not.

And she has a few more questions... No spicy scenes, just a sweet, fun exchange between Yuna and her future Son-in-Law.TIMEFRAME: This happens shortly after in the first half of 2021. Ilya has been living in Ottawa for more that 2 years and has built a friendship and rapport with his future In-laws, Yuna and David Hollander.
INSPIRATION: Dec. 2020 (from the Long Game) Ilya gave Shane a framed photograph from a batch of outakes taken at the CCM ad shoot they did the summer before they started their rookie seasons with their teams.
