Shaking his head, he fumbled for his keys and took another look at the person who had startled him. They were either short or hunched over. Hard to tell with the breezeway light as clogged as it was with dead insects. He could at least tell that they were dressed in all black, with a black mask over their nose and mouth. A big messenger bag hung across their back, and they were struggling with something in their hands. As his eyes strained in the gloom, he remembered that he hadn’t had a neighbor in that apartment for a couple of months. Had someone just moved in? He paused with his key touching the lock. Jiang Cheng took a sharp breath. Holy shit, was this actually someone trying to break in?
Jiang Cheng mistakes his clumsy new neighbor for a rumored burglar, then spends the next two months nursing a crush.
