Summary
Connor can't help himself. Markus is captivating. His voice is soft and yet commanding, his presence warm and comforting while intimidating all at the same time. His words, in spite of how fervently Connor wishes to disregard them, are powerful and ridden with meaning. He is an enigma. Deviant leader draws deviant hunter in without so much as a roll of his shoulders. Connor, no matter how much he repeats the ‘I am a machine and nothing more’ mantra in his mind, cannot escape the ‘you are alive’ that Markus so relentlessly feeds him every single time they meet up like this.
EDIT: this is now a chaptered work! By popular demand and an influx of inspiration, it's now going to have a few chapters!

For his part Markus is obsessed with hands. He likes the feel of fingers intertwining or palms pressed against each other until their skins fade into white. And hugs. God he loves hugs, folding people into his arms, holding onto them like they’ll float off into space if he lets go. Connor, he’s noticed, is the most touch starved of them all. Wanting the comfort, but hovering just out of reach because he’s not sure what to do with hands that don’t want to hurt him. It makes his chest ache knowing Connor feels that way, so if Markus finds and excuse to touch the small of Connor’s back or press against him in a crowded room, then that’s his business thank you very much.
“Markus,” Connor murmurs, and, if possible, he’s blushing even harder now.
“Hmm?” Markus hums, too busy thinking about chasing the blush with his tongue to notice Connor is looking between him and the bed with wide, concerned eyes.
“There’s only one bed.” Connor states matter-of-factly.
“What?”

Reading this as it was being released was one thing, but this might just be a tradition as I reread it Christmas Day a year later. It’s getting me through some overwhelm @-@
This is a fic that keeps on giving. It’s maddeningly relatable, charming, enticing, heart-felt, and funny.
I can’t imagine having the self confidence to WRITE this, let alone post it. I went into the ‘sexy mall Santa’ tag for the sheer incredulity, the brain reboot of seeing it. And it made me happy and laugh and cry (and other things).

Hank, adoptive father to Connor -- a sophomore in high school with more than one foster family horror story under his belt -- just wants to take his new son on a real vacation, so he enters and somehow wins a giveaway at his work for an all-expenses-paid two-week stay for a family of up to 4 at a private resort on the west coast of Florida.

Summary
Markus is a vampire who volunteers at a clinic for abused, at-risk, and in-need vampires in Detroit named Jericho. He, alongside regular volunteers North, Simon, and Josh -- also vampires -- make up the Jericho Coven (any close friend/support group comprising mostly of vampires). After closing out several cases against abusive sires (those who turn others without their consent and/or without proper care afterwards), Markus believes their work is done for the time being and that he can have a brief respite from finding feral vampires on the streets.
Unfortunately (or, for those it affects, very fortunately), he's a magnet for troubled vampires, including one rather mysterious feral wandering the streets for seemingly-impossible lengths of time.
