Summary
Grian shifted again—another small movement, a thoughtless roll of his hips as he resettled. The bed creaked faintly beneath them, the sound sharp in the hush. Grian froze for half a second, then relaxed, deciding it was probably fine. If anything, it helped the illusion.
Scar, on the other hand, went very still.
His jaw tightened, eyes closing briefly as he took a slow breath, hands remaining firmly—but respectfully—at Grian’s sides. When he spoke again, his voice was even, almost too controlled. “Hey,” he said gently, breathlessly, “maybe— maybe don’t move like that.”
Grian blinked. “Oh—sorry.” He flushed, immediately trying to still himself, hands pressing into Scar’s shoulders for balance. “Did I—?”
Before Scar could answer—
BANG BANG BANG.

The party crasher grins, bright and mischievous, but there’s a glint in his eyes that makes some part of Bruce think predator. “Sure thing! I’m Jason Todd-Wayne, and me and the others are Bruce Wayne’s gaggle of bastard children.”

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

For a moment, Scar thought he saw Grian’s gaze dip again, but with distance between them, and the glare from a lamp on the other man’s glasses, he couldn’t be entirely sure. It made his heart squeeze all the same.
Grian straightened, huffing, “No.”
Scar hesitated. “Are you sure?”
“Positive,” Grian said. He leaned into the couch cushions, his countenance changing with the wave of a hand. His face relaxed, his legs crossed in front of him, and a wide smile split his lips. “You’ll pay for what you’ve done in due time.”

It started shortly after Tegg ended. Grian had the dragon egg back at his starting base and had been commenting on his big decoration plans with it to them for some days.
Being honest, Mumbo should have noticed the signals. the way his blankets and shirts were quickly disappearing and how Scar stopped working in his own base and seemed to be stealing food all around Boatem and acting innocent everytime someone asked to disappear in a spam of rockets.
Truly, he took a week to notice that his two partners were egg brained at the same time over the dragon egg.

“We’re barely halfway,” Mumbo points out, looking away towards the steadily-steeper trail they have to climb in order to get to the top. “Oh, Scar, we’re only halfway there!”
Scar’s laugh is slightly breathless. “We’ve only been hiking for thirty minutes, come on, be a good sport!”
