Summary
Roger’s eyes are sharp and expectant. It felt like something has been said aloud that has been circling them for ages. Since April learned she and Roger were doomed and made the distant possibility of death into an immediate reality. Mark had been standing on the tracks and waiting for death after death to run him over for years. Maybe he has already been hit, but he doesn't get to worry about himself, because, when all is said and done, he won't be crushed. He will be left, bruised and broken beyond repair on the side of the tracks, but alive. And Roger is going to be the one to break him.

The royal family doesn’t need to be close, however, it only needs to be balanced, like the pillars holding the country above their heads – as long as they are strong and steady, the Empire will be too. It’s the principle that held Tommy’s back straight and his shoulders broad through the years of hardships and trials of errors; through yet another formal meeting where his father’s gaze would look past him and where his brother’s words would be filled with poison that makes the deepest parts of his soul ache.
At that time, Tommy couldn't know that his family would find a replacement for him in the face of a commoner boy named Ranboo.

The siren's touch was cool, silken against Quackity's skin. He pulled the man closer, almost tenderly, letting his tail loop around him to keep them together despite the current's efforts to separate them. His honeyed eyes flicked over Quackity's face, taking in the sight of the man.
He couldn't remember the last time a human had looked at him this way. No fear, no anger, just... awe. It was almost cute. Almost enough to make him guilty. Almost. At least, that’s what he told himself.
