Chapter Text
It had been two weeks since they all first heard about it. A young girl, only six years old, found in an underground facility being experimented on. The Heroes had gathered together to discuss this raid with the police force. Among them being All Might, Japan’s number one hero, and the world’s symbol of peace.
“Alright, people, listen up. This girl’s safety is our top priority. Take down as many people as you can, try not to kill anyone,” said the lead detective.
“I only wish,” All Might began, “that we had found her sooner. The fact they’d do this to a child. It makes me sick to my stomach.”
“Don’t worry, All Might,” said a shorter, older man in a yellow hero costume. “We’ll get her outta there.”
“I sure hope so, Torino,” said the detective. The detective then turned to the other heroes and police force. “Are we all clear on what the task is?” Everyone nodded in response. “Alright. Let’s move out!”
Forty-Five minutes later, the raid began, All Might tearing off the massive warehouse doors. The police quickly detained the lab assistants while All Might went for the lead scientist, a man named Kyogai Matoki.
All Might’s punches of air knocked every assistant off their feet and unconscious, him clearly trying NOT to kill anyone. He burst through the next set of doors, where he found the little girl on an operating table, and Matoki next to her.
“Ah, the great and powerful All Might… I never expected you’d show up this soon.”
“I am here… to arrest you and free that girl.”
Matoki just scoffed. “Arrest me? As if I could let that happen. After all… the girl is already mine. So, why don’t we skip the formalities and get straight to the point?” Matoki then tried to put a piece of coal in his mouth, but was stopped by the sound of a cough.
“No… please…”
The girl was awake now. She wore a blue hospital gown, and had bandages on her arms. She had green fluffy hair and freckles on her face. And she was scared. Very scared.
“Don’t…”
She passed out immediately. All Might roared in anger and punched Matoki while he was distracted, knocking him out cold. Then, he looked at the girl, and picked her up. She woke up again.
“All… Might…?”
“It’s okay, little one. I am here… to save you.”
“T-Thank you…” She fell asleep again. This time, being cradled in All Might’s arms. All Might then found the police stepping in.
“We found the girl, and the scientist!” one of the officers reported.
“Thank you, All Might,” said the detective.
“It’s really no worry,” All Might replied. But on the inside, the girl made him feel things. He didn’t know her name, at least, he didn’t think he did at first. Then he remembered something. “Hey, Tsukauchi.”
“Yeah?” asked the Detective.
“Remember that cold case you told me about two years ago?”
“Ah yes. A woman was found dead in her house, and her daughter went missing.”
“What was the woman’s name again?” All Might wondered.
“Inko Midoriya, if I recall… wait… This girl… you think she’s her daughter?”
“I’ve got a feeling that might be the case.”
Naomasa Tsukauchi pondered for a minute before coming to a conclusion.
“Let’s ask her when she’s able to talk again. Gently. I think your presence will help,” he said.
“Thank you, Tsukauchi.”
She woke up after a dreamless sleep. When she came to, she was in a hospital bed. It was daytime outside when she looked out her window. There were lights on, real lights. The nightmare was over. So why didn’t she cry? She was too tired to cry. A doctor walked in, talking to two other people.
“-and we don’t know when… Oh. You’re awake. Are you feeling okay?”
She found her words after a few seconds.
“Yeah. I feel okay now.”
“Okay, what’s your name, little miss?” the doctor asked.
She looked to the people in front of her, but knew they could be trusted.
“…Izumi Midoriya, sir.”
The doctor then looked at Tsukauchi.
“I’ll let you two take it from here,” the doctor said as he left for the time being.
“Hello, Midoriya… I’m detective Maomasa Tsukauchi. If you’re… okay with it, I’d like to ask you a few questions.”
Izumi looked unsure, but nodded ‘yes’ as a way to communicate her message to the detective.
“Okay, then. Before you were… with those awful people, where did you live?”
“I lived in Mustafu with my mom. Dad never came home,” she spoke sadly.
“And your mother. What was her name?” Tsukauchi asked.
“Inko. Inko Midoriya… but she’s no longer with us…”
Tsukauchi looked at his friend, a skinny blonde man, and nodded. The friend nodded back.
“If I may ask, Young Midoriya… What happened to her?”
“It was two years ago. The day I was diagnosed as Quirkless.”
This made the two men widen their eyes.
“I was so sad that day… but then after I finally left my room for the first time in hours that day… She laid in a puddle of blood. And a man was standing above her. That man then used some kind of chemical that put me to sleep. When I woke up… I was on that table.”
Tsukauchi and his skinny friend were horrified. It was already a bad day for her but for her mother to die the same day was just too harsh.
“I was there for two years. But I believed.”
“What do you mean?” asked the blonde man.
“All Might was my favorite hero back then… still is now. Every day I wished that he’d come and save me. And then… He finally did.” A smile came to Izumi’s face. “May I see him again? I want to thank him for saving me properly.”
Tsukauchi and his friend looked at each other and smiled. Then, his friend buffed up… into All Might.
“Wh-What?!”
He then returned to normal thereafter.
“All Might… was in the room with me… this whole time…?” Izumi was shocked.
“Do you promise not to tell anyone about that, Midoriya?” asked All Might.
“O-Of course, mister… um…”
“My name is Toshinori Yagi.”
“Yes, mister Yagi. I’ll keep your secret,” said Izumi. Then a tear fell down her face as she began to cry.
“Y-Young Midoriya?”
“My mom is dead… Dad abandoned us… And I don’t have a home to go home to… what do I do now…?” She asked as she cried. Toshinori walked up to her bed and hugged her.
“Hey, hey, don’t worry. I’ll find a way to help you. I promise. I am here for you… Izumi.”
Three days passed, and Izumi was still wondering where she’d go. She also really didn’t care for the food. She wanted to go and eat something, but she also didn’t want to be put into an orphanage. She wanted to get out of this hospital gown and put on a fresh set of clothes. Then, as soon as she was about to go to watch something on the TV, Toshinori walked in.
“Hi, Izumi.”
“Mister Yagi! You came back!” Izumi’s day was instantly made better by her idol’s presence.
“So, I hear you’ve recovered faster than you expected. That’s good to hear. But that does leave me with one large question.” He then held out a set of papers as another man walked in. The other man was dressed in black and had a grey scarf around him.
“Uh… Mister Yagi? Who’s that?”
“Don’t worry about me kid. I’ll explain in a little bit,” said the other man.
“First… I discussed this with the police and some friends of mine… but I’d like to formally ask you… Izumi Midoriya? Would you like to come and live with me? But also… I realize your biological father abandoned you. And you don’t really have many others in your family you’re close to… would you be okay if I adopted you… as my daughter?”
Izumi started tearing up. She didn’t know him for long, but here was Toshinori not only offering to give her a home, but to raise her. In a way, being All Might’s daughter was a dream come true. She teared up a bit, but held a strong smile.
“Yes, I’d love to be your daughter, and I’d love to come and stay with you,” Izumi said, holding her arms out for a hug, which Toshinori gave her. The other man cleared his throat.
“I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Shouta Aizawa. I primarily work as an Underground hero known as Eraserhead. I’m also a Teacher at UA University. I’m here to make another offer to you.”
“Huh?”
“In short… A few of us at UA heard what happened to you, and we would like to help you. You’ve missed two years of your education as a result of being kidnapped. We discussed this with Yagi, and, well… You’ll be homeschooled until you get to UA by us. But it won’t just be basic education.”
“Wh-What does he mean?” she asked All Might.
“To tell you the truth, problem child… You aren’t Quirkless anymore. We ran some tests on your blood. It turns out that the experimentation you underwent gave you some Quirks. Four of them, to be exact,” said Aizawa.
“F-four?” Izumi wondered.
“We don’t know why, but now that you have them, we can train you on how to use them. You do want to become a hero someday, right?” Aizawa asked.
“More than anything,” Izumi said without a hint of hesitation.
Aizawa nodded. “You’ll have your Quirk Training at UA, that way we can watch over you in case something happens. And lastly… I’m sorry for what you went through. No child should ever have to experience what you went through. I’ll be sure to remember this.” And Aizawa left as soon as he said that. Toshinori then smiled at Izumi.
“I brought you some clothes. The doctors wanted to keep it a surprise until I came back, so… surprise, I guess… you’re coming home with me today.”
“I am?! Oh thank goodness!” Izumi hugged Toshinori again.
“Now, let’s get you dressed and ready to go…”
Izumi was now wearing sweatpants, a long green sweater, and red shoes. And she was in the backseat of Toshinori’s car, traveling to his house. With the papers finalized, Izumi was now All Might’s daughter. Her name was now Izumi Midoriya/Yagi at this moment.
“Hey, Izumi. Have you ever had cheeseburgers before?” Toshinori asked.
“I… don’t think I have,” she admitted.
“Well, I think you’d like them. It’s currently one o’clock in the afternoon, and I bet you’re hungry,” Toshinori said, smiling.
“I-I am, uh…”
“You don’t have to call me ‘dad’ right away, Izumi. I want you to get settled into the idea before you do. You can keep calling me ‘Mister Yagi’ for now, if you’d like,” assured Toshinori.
“Oh, thanks Mr. Yagi.”
In the Burger King, Izumi sat across from her now-adoptive father, and the waiter brought the duo their order; two sets of two bacon cheeseburgers and a side of fries for the two of them, with Toshinori getting water while Izumi got an orange soda.
“This is a more typical thing in America, Izumi. I would know, since I spent a lot of time there. I even go back for special occasions. If you want, I can help you learn English,” Toshinori offered.
“Really?! I’d love that!” Izumi beamed with joy.
Toshinori chuckled as Izumi unwrapped one of her burgers and grabbed a bite. Her eyes sparkled in amazement.
“Good, isn’t it?” Toshinori asked. Izumi nodded as she chewed. “Well, it may taste good, but it’s not quite healthy. We can have these on special occasions if you want.”
Izumi swallowed. “Is this a special occasion?”
“Well, yeah. You’re my daughter now, I’m legally your dad now… It’s a momentous occasion. Anyway, I was able to set up your bedroom with a bit of my All Might merch. It’s not much, but I know how much you admire… him.” Toshinori had to be careful what he said in public.
Izumi then took a sip of her soda. “I wanna be just like him… Save people with a smile.”
“It won’t be easy,” Toshinori spoke sternly.
“I know. But… It’s my dream.”
Izumi then saw the house she was going to live in. She was surprised. It wasn’t that big, but it was big.
“This is where I, and now you, live, Izumi. This house has five bedrooms. Two downstairs and three upstairs, though I primarily sleep downstairs.” Toshinori then led her to her bedroom, which was upstairs. When he opened the door for her, Izumi was amazed when she walked in. It was a lot of All Might merchandise. But not too much.
“I made some room in case you wanted to get merchandise from other heroes, too. Do you like it?”
Izumi hugged her adoptive father. “Thank you, Mister Yagi…”
“Welcome home, Izumi.” Toshinori returned the hug. This was the start of Izumi’s life… as All Might’s Daughter.
